Winter Count of the Opioid Crisis:
Evaluating Origins, Community Response, and Outcomes of a First Nations's Opioid Strategy
Objectives
1) Contextualize the recent (2013 - present) opioid crisis through a collaborative, community-wide Winter Count process that invites diverse agencies and groups to pictorialize significant historical and contemporary events framing the crisis' origins and community responses to it;
2) Aggregate relevant data available in health, social services, and policing datasets to map Winter Count events to indicators of adverse opioid-related outcomes and indicators of impact from strategic interventions; and
3) Translate intervention impacts and processes for further Nation capacity-building, and for other First Nations and systems to learn from the innovations and insights developed here.
